Born in western Oklahoma, daughter of a farmer, Micah grew up exploring, playing in the red dirt, and connected to nature at an early age. During her childhood she would often wander off at dawn to spend the day hiking through neighboring farm lands, climbing canyon walls, swimming in rivers, and returning at dusk. Micah would observe plant and wildlife on her day trips near her family's home, often returning home to draw the moments that inspired her most. These early days are what inspires and motivates her artwork today.

Today, Micah is a visual arts teacher in Colorado, sharing her passion for art and love of nature with her students. When she's not teaching, her free time is spent outdoors. It's true, the mountains do call, and there is something spiritual about hiking among a landscape that has been here since the beginning of time. Each trip into the wilderness, Micah brings a camera or supplies to document the experience and then uses the photos and sketches to inspire her work.

Finding beauty in the hidden or unexpected areas is what is most inspiring. The mountains from a distance are beautiful, but slowing down and taking a closer look at what is beneath our feet can take one's breath away as much as the elevation. Sitting still, observing plant growth, sounds, wildlife and knowing she's a part of the life there, is the feeling driving the artwork Micah creates.
